Over the course of the year I’ve heard so many people say “time is just flying by!” Every time I hear that I think to myself, is it? Because I feel like time is moving so slow. I’ve come to realize that maybe it’s because I’ve been fully present to everything around me; and I have my spiritual journey to thank for that. Although being present has it’s ups and downs, it comes with a lot of room for growth, gratitude, and self-reflection.
Life definitely changed this year, and I’m sure many people can agree. We started the year fully immersed in a pandemic. Work environments changed drastically. Social experiences fluctuated throughout the year. And here we are, in the last month of year, we survived right? That’s just it; we didn’t just survive, we thrived! As a human race, we conquered and adjusted to changes on a daily basis. We hugged, we cried, and loved each other more than ever.
Now think of all the personal challenges and accomplishments you had this year. So many of us were living just to get through the day, week, month, year; waiting for this period of abnormality to end. What we failed to do is stop and realize that this was now the norm; and as cliché as that sounds, we did a phenomenal job creating it.
Take some time to reflect on the way you handled a new job/task, a hobby you picked up that had never previously crossed your mind, and the time you spent with your family. Whatever you went through this year, live in gratitude of who it made you, because it’s exactly who you’re meant to be.
