Within the smoke of Independence Day comes a lot of reflections surrounding freedom, and what that means to each of us. Not everyone’s idea of freedom is the same, especially in the workplace or within their career.
We have been conditioned to believe that in most workplaces, there is only one way to the top; a formula. You must learn and do it all, work long hours, and challenge every single obstacle.
The truth is, well my truth, is that everyone is amazing at what they choose to do! People on my team, including myself, are free to do things their way (within the guardrails, of course) because as a team we increase and magnify each other’s talents.
We must foster work environments where our members feel valued and appreciated, included, and continuously affirmed in their actions.
It is a beautiful thing to see someone operate only in their strengths, free from the fear of failure or judgment. When you rid yourself and/or your team of their fears and allow them to focus on their strengths, the output simply flows.
A formula doesn’t exist; we can lift each other up, have a stable work-life balance, and watch the obstacles melt away through our collaborative efforts.
Sometimes freedom is the path of least resistance, knowing you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
